There is a popular quote by Martin Luther, professor of theology that says, “There is no more lovely, friendly, and charming relationship, communion, or company than a good marriage.”

His quote flawlessly encompasses how a marriage fulfills. It is one of the deepest and most powerful multi-faceted relationships a person can have. Marriage is an incomparable partnership that not only involves a lot of love but a real commitment. When married you have a friend, a lover, you always have someone to talk to and you’re never alone.

Friendship

Many say that they married their best friend and when you think about it, a spouse is a best friend. They know everything about you including your likes, dislikes, dreams, aspirations and the connection is very strong. Spouses complement one another well, their faces light up when they’re together, outside parties can sense the bond and both individuals are just in sync. A husband/wife is a person you want to be around, spend time with, talk and laugh with. The dynamic between spouses is best described as “lovely” and “charming” as said by Luther.

Communion

Communion is the sharing or exchanging of intimate thoughts and a good marriage certainly delivers in the communication department. In addition to always having someone to confide in, marriage helps communication skills unlike any other relationship. We all learn how to communicate more effectively through experience and communicating with a life partner takes those lessons to another level. It teaches a person how to listen, be direct, how to be more understanding, open and honest. Marriage allows us to communicate on a more intimate level to connect both mentally and spiritually.

Company

There really is no better company than a significant other. Spending time with the person you love and sharing your life with him/her is a great way to live. This is one of the reasons why people get married. Having that partnership is fulfilling. You have a teammate, there is always someone there to support you and come home to. Knowing that the person you have made a commitment to cares about your wants, needs and overall happiness provides the sense of security many yearn for. In marriage, company has greater significance.
